There's nothing else to add so I'll pause unless I think there is. But I will say this: if I were in your shoes I'd be making an escape plan and detailing the escape triggers. The easy decision is to stay. The hard one is to decide if it's time to bail. My advice (unprofessional and unsolicited as it is) is to think about this problem now while you have the time and lack of heat to do it.
