It is clearly a 17.3.2 where it is necessary to prevent a uninformed market. Not everyone has access to twitter.
I find it a bit bizarre that extremely positive news is still being spun by some in a negative way.
It obviously hasn't been handled very well by AVZ management, but still, at the end of the day, the news is still very good.
The new militant approach by the ASX over the past couple of weeks is not limited to AVZ. Not saying they are wrong in making companies toe the line, but their approach has changed significantly, possibly due to the HAO debacle which revealed a lot of major issues, many with ASX oversight. Twitter itself has obviously changed how companies convey information. Even youtube vision is getting a Guernsey (ala Novo and its nugget detecting presentation); facebook has been known to influence (eg a driller or geo posts his latest observations during a live drilling program). It used to be relatively easy to get your company information, just read the asx releases; now you have to be across all the electronic mediums otherwise you are almost doomed to be investing "uninformed". To an extent, the only way you can possibly stay up to date is by crowdsourcing your research to a platform such as hotcopper, where yes you have to wade through the crap, but there a lot of people doing good work.
At some point, the asx will have to make a decision regarding what must be released, and how. The traditional ASX release format is likely to become / already is outdated.
