You cannot possibly know that FAR’s wi in Sangomar is worth more than the cash calls that FAR is defaulting on.
it’s entirely possibly that the wi is worth less than nowt (ie that the development will end up losing money).
JOAs don’t allow partners with cash in the bank to walk away from obligations in exchange for wi. Such arrangement would not be equitable in the circumstances postulated.
I expect that Woody’s crack lawyers will be covering this off. And it’s pretty disgraceful that FAR is trying this on with struggleling third world oilie Petrosen who can’t afford to subsidise Calaminity Cath’s millionaire lifestyle.
