AJM is a totally different case where OZ has many Li miners, large and small, and it was selling a premium product at a depressed price to Chinese buyers to stay alive, and I imagine the resentment from all around. SYA had some government indigenous fund in it since last year. from my humble memory, so many things were set in motion long time ago. The wording of this announcement sounds to me like there is new investors coming into the game just before the announcement of the bidding. I do not believe coincidence in stock market, do you?
