Can we please consider the nanometer question dispassionately?

It was a left field comment in the recent August update that alerted us to this unexpected ( and can I say dramatic ?) down scaling of the chip geometry.

No one can explain how it came about without prior warning. 8tey researched the typical costs of taking such a path. He found a relevant source courtesy of (reliably credible) McKinsey. Which showed that it takes typically half a billion plus to get chips into the 5nm range.

I don’t think there are any facts to dispute so far?

So from there, given the givens we have been given, surely we can at least start any auction with a reserve north of that half $B?

And however the money and effort were provided and expended to get our Little Chip Who Could to this geometry, surely this simple fact, on its own is a huge vote of confidence in the technology of which we are part owners.
