Forget Pfizer for a moment. If I wanted to to put the pressure on a fledgling business I wouldn't be giving them cash (half a year of expenses) with almost the only condition is that the board support a takeover proposal. Especially when a capital raise was imminent. They could've easily lobbed a takeover bid at 11.5c without any cash injection. This would've had a much larger chance of success.
$4 million is not pocket change to RAP - it's not that short of typical capital raisings.
I do agree that it's a risky strategy.
