Kaliums process works.
Just like any mineral processing plant adjustments need to happen during and after commissioning. As designs are based on engineering calculations not real life workings 2 plants designed exactly same processing the exact same feed will perform differently.
The key to these 2 plants is floation, this is where schoenite and NaCl is separated. floatation is an art and ask anyone in the industry that has dealt with floatation they will say this is the hardest area and the one that takes time to get right especially when it's a new process and new design.
Kalium has a traditional floatation where you float the good product whereas SO4 had a reverse floatation style where the waste is floated. Even though it doesn't seem a lot Kalium is doing very well here.
Unfortunately, these days engineers knowledge and degrees are based on books and calculations not on what's physically happening and most, not all, won't listen to EXPERIENCED operators when it comes to running a process plant. That is why I call the "brains on the wall" because once they get their degree there knowledge and brains are on the wall for everyone to see. You never see an operator or tradesman put their certificate up for everyone to see.
