I suggest that everyone that is "surprised" by this hack to have a look at https://haveibeenpwned.com/
I also strongly agree with Verve365 comment. Medibank hasnt been negligent. Would you blame the victim of a robbery? I would suggest everyone look up "bounty programs" (example here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/msrc/bounty).
Most exploits are infact found by the average day hacker. It just takes one wrong person to find it first to cause a data breach.
Long story short, if MPL is "finished" because of this, we will see alot of companies follow suit. Don't forget "the fappening", an exploit of Apple - arguably one of the biggest tech companies in the world. Noone is immune.
