Most good Non-executives have several roles as they are paid much less than executives, and the time requirements are much less.
There will be no end of qualified non-exective Directors available for a role, its just a case of identifying a suitable candidate.
I have never seen a Non-executive Director be who needs to give notice other than out of courtesy.
They will have a search firm contacting candidates already and at worst would take a couple of weeks.
This is a simple exercise and either you don't understand or are causing mischief with your nonsense.
