Yes inflation slowed, but there is a big difference between the rate of inflation slowing and Deflation. We are still well above the target advised by the RBA and traditionally you need to get above that target to actually slow it.

As for the housing market going up does not translate to more wealth, I don't disagree that those losses or gains don't get realized until the property is sold but if I make 100k a year and my house is going up in value by 10% a year I'm going to be more inclined to spend that 100k than if it was going down 10% a year. As consumption is just under 60% of Australia's GDP I don't think you should underestimate how much housing sentiment impacts inflation.

Anyway sorry to derail. Was just curious why you were so sure rates weren't going up BR.
