I think you forget that in the case of the 6" failure they said that the failure was very simple to correct, yet we are still here with no sample chips. They claim they chose to use 8" wafers which to me in retrospect was just another delaying tactic by management. Delaying tactics are a constant thread for many years. It is clear that throughout history they have painted only the very rosiest of picture of their progress to teh point where it is impossible to track what their real progress has been.
