All though it would be wise of the chinese to involve themselves in Lynas to maintain the effective monopoly they have on the worlds REE supply, I don't think the japanese would be overly happy, as they have an enourmous future demand. The last thing they need is to be hamstrung by China.
In the whole scheme of things...its peanuts to take a major stake in Lynas for a company (Such as Toyota) whose downstream integration has such an inelastic supply.
I just hope that the directors do not do anything rash. $50-70 Mill will tide you over for quite a while, whilst the market regains some common sense.
