Insiders have known for months that negotiations are taking place. The suspension therefore does not lead to significant investor protection that goes beyond the general prohibition of insider trading.

However, it does mean that shares listed on the asx cannot be regarded as liquid assets, as the listing can be suspended for weeks or months at any time. An informal letter without any further information value is sufficient as justification.
