I think Kimho22 was pointing out that they lifted their game by 18%. If they had not then they would have been 19% down post tax. The punitive change in tax rate is what killed it. I know that you can say that the NPAT is what really matters but you must realise that the enormous gain they would have had to have made NPBT to show a gain of even 10% would have been 28% and there is no bank that is going to come up with that sort of profit when rates are climbing and margins are dwindling. I prefer to be realistic. If they will probably adjust enough to show a positive single digit NPAT next year with rate cuts being forecast within that period.
