Obviously I'm excited about THE POTENTIAL of this acquisition (and I think language may be very important here ... just like Rosario and the Tama Atacama projects, acquisition means AN OPTION AGREEMENT ... well it does to me at least. Means we have certain payments and/or milstones to reach over the term of the option agreement). Option agreements are normal course of business in extractive industries.
I've already written heaps on what I think might be relevant peers - including one in the Maricunga Gold Belt (MCG) of the Atacama Region - the region noted by FLG where this "advanced exploration project" is located.
But in this digital world of ours ... information is everywhere ... you just got to ask and know where to look.
This table was AI assisted, and so depends very much on the question and context. What I posed was restated back as
"The Atacama Region of Chile hosts numerous significant gold deposits and mines. Below is a comprehensive table summarizing these deposits, including their ownership/operators, location within the Maricunga Gold Belt, publication of Mineral Resource Estimates (MREs) under standards such as JORC or NI 43-101, resource classifications (Measured, Indicated, Inferred) with grades and contained ounces of gold, and annual production figures where available."
And like all things ... trust but verify because it is most unlikely for a NI 43-101 (that's a Canadian mining standard for "Technical Report" that covers a multitude of things such as a MRE, PEA etc.) to exist without an MRE. So got to go and check stuff. By way of example ... Fenix Gold Project is owned/operated by Rio2 ... go to their website and see the MRE ... the mine has started its construction in Feb'25 ... that's what I mean by trust and verify.
I'm convinced the answer lies in this table. Obviously any producting mine isn't a target. Some are simply to big (e.g. Volcan project) for FLG to consider. Anything belonging to Kinross/Newmont/Barrick isn't a likely target either. List of likely target keeps shrinking. We'll know soon enough ... ASX not withstanding.
