Yes. I've seen this a number of times before. (And it has cost me serious money; both in actual money and potential profits.) The weight of big money comes in, and little people like me just stop buying after they have reached the maximum amount that they are prepared to allocate to that particular 'play'. They get in, drive the price through the floor, and just keep it there, often for very long times.
It has always been the Yanks coming in and crushing little people like me (then again, it was the Canadians one time.)
