Hi Ichicken I hope your prognosis does not come to pass however your observations are not to be discounted. Re losing capital, not sure of your situation but in my early 40's I lost a lot (for me) in the GFC etc - initially I was gutted but it has proved to be a blessing in disguise as its taught me to be much more aware of risks in my investing and much more discerning i.e. debt = danger, what is the potential downside?, fundamental analysis i.e. market cap versus real quantifiable assets, is the share price over-inflated, can the market cap really be justified by what the company has?, avoiding the hype etc. Touch wood now days I am managing to avoid most of the large capital losses by adopting this more conservative approach. Hopefully your experiences with MLX will assist with your investing success in the future.
