It sets the narrative in the political arena of the country and internationally that they are about being a responsible corporate citizen and the independent criteria against which that is measured. This separates them against the CCP owned companies and other companies in the past. The next election may well be between the party of theformer President Kabila who are Chinese backed and the current President who is fighting against that (and against the technology and techniques the CCP have to manipulate elections). The third candidate might be the ex Exxon exec who finished second last time. The ideal outcome for Felix and AVZ is to show some positive improvements to the people and get the entire centre left and centre right parties behind him. AVZ need to be somewhat political in this situation especially when your project represents a reasonable % of GDP.
