Concrete with hardened fly ash, when properly designed, shows greater strength together with lower permeability (Maroto-Valer et al., 2001, Taylor, 1997). Partial replacement of cement with fly ash could reduce production costs, since it reduces the amount of energy needed in the clinkerization process, and also reduces the amount of natural resource to be used in the process (Habert, 2014). The amount substituted can range between 15% and 35% by weight and can be up to 70% by weight for concrete in constructions such as pavement, walls, and parking lots, and even up to 80% by weight in autoclave aerated concrete (Dilmore and Neufeld, 2001, Yao et al., 2015).
