Sell shares that you've held for less than 12 months; you pay tax on 100% of the profit at your marginal rate (depending on the tax bracket/s you fall in).
Sell shares that you've held for longer than 12 months; you pay tax on 50% of the profit at your marginal rate (depending on the tax bracket/s you fall in).
