It would make intuitive sense to be honest, assuming the shorters are betting on prices going down and are not simply hedging then the short thesis no long exists. If we ignore the strong likelihood of near term rerate catalyst events, especially as we approach the AGM, as well as how undervalued this stock is, the company is literally buying up everything under $15. Doesn't make much sense to be short at these price. Before the BB the shorters were competing against impatient shareholders, now they're up against a cashed up company with a huge amount of buying power. The smart ones will close their shorts whilst they still can below $30/sh
