I wouldnt put SYD or any of the travel related companies (like QAN) into the broader market category. They have been the hardest hit and will be the first to dive (further) if there a resurgent pandemic overseas, a la the drops yesterday. The latest stats from SYD were pretty sobering - pax numbers down 97% from the same period last year, then you have the QAN blood letting and predictions of a 30% drop in domestic travel next year; Tiger disappering under a possible revamped Virgin; retail and carparking revenues at SYD would be almost non-existent and they still have a lot of fixed costs to pay. I dont know the latest mgmt team - but I would guess they will have a MQG pedigree and therefore not sure where investor interests fit in. Wake me up when it gets to $3.
