Further comment about recarburiser to follow on from Prime's earlier post.

There are various types of recarburiser and each type has a different price range depending on quality and raw material used to make the recarburiser. Here is a link to a post I made over a year ago regarding prices at that time:

There are 2 very important qualities needed for high grade recarburiser. SYR has both and that makes their product very attractive to market.

1. High solubility - solubility is adversely affected by both grain size and the level of sulphur content in the graphite. Fine grain size particles provide greater surface to volume ratios and thus improve solubility. For sulphur content, anything over 0.04% is a big no no. The lower the sulpher content the better. SYR's metallurgy indicates an extremely low sulphur content in the range of 0.008% to 0.01%.

2. Sulpher content - high S content is considered harmful because it will lower the Mg efficiency and result in increased dross formation in both ductile and compacted graphite irons. Additionally, high S content has a greater tendency for carbide formation which weakens steel plus causes calcium sulphide inclusions in the steel. Furthermore, to make ductile iron the graphite recarburiser needs to form a spheriodal morphology when added to the melt. Sulphur content over 0.012% adversely affects the graphite basal planes and doesn't allow spheroidal formation.

There are other factors to consider, but the above 2 key points are the most important. Regardless, SYR has proven to have the 'right stuff' at the 'right price' and at the 'right time'.
