Tthe West abandoned difficult to mine stuff because of not in my backyard, for decades, happy for some other poor people to suffer the environmental consequences, now they're bitching about it?
How convenient.
China has closed a significant amount of mines (by number, not production) over the last 5-10 years - also for the same not in my backyard reason. (I'm responding specifically the comment on rare earth's and critical minerals).
As for anodes, which is the actual issue here, is that they have been scaling production significantly - look at the LiB growth eg via EV and other ESS. these economies of scale are required for the energy transition. It's their fault now since that no one else adhered and tried to implement the Paris agreement?
The West is welcome to buy these cheap anodes and implement energy transition. which by the way would actually push back up the prices if they did a fraction of what they promised.
