So now we know where a lot of the shares Tabcorp sold went!
ASIC just published their daily short sales for 22/9 and the percentage of shorts has crashed from 6.08% on 21/9 to 3.53% on 22/9. In other words, shorters chose to buy the stock from Tabcorp (through UBS) to cover their positions. The benefit to the shorters is that they got a better price ($13.52) that they would have if they had to cover on market which would have pushed the price up substantially from the $14.45 it was trading at when this was announced.
Always good to see shorters exiting their positions, although its a shame we couldn't squeeze them on the market...
