Notwithstanding the shorts have decreased by nearly a third which I suspect has supported heightened volume (see below from shortman):

Maybe the offer was extended to suppress the share price for long enough to allow enough time for shorts to be covered. In any event decreasing shorts above the conditional offer price indicate pretty clearly that shorters expect a price way north of 58c and are desperate to close / cover their positions....
TIE hopefully announces a record month of production tomorrow for Nov-23....
