Be interesting to know what short term strategies are taking place on site as a result of the take over bid.
whilst December production is likely not going to be great, given a 3 day shutdown ( which hopefully won’t overrun ) , that means 10 % of the month with no production.
one way to increase production this month is to high grade the pit and stockpiles wherever possible.
Another way of ameliorating this short term , is to draw down the process plants gold inventory , producing more ounces than what goes into the plant for the month. By stripping the carbon more often and lowering the gold on carbon.
The third is to completely clean out the gold room, calcining all cathodes , even those only lightly loaded with gold.
the fourth would be by extending the “ cut off “ day for the month by a couple of days. It’s usually the 25 th- 27 th of the month, to allow time for the last strip to be completed, electrowon, calcined and smelted.
its a bit “ naughty” , but I have personally been instructed to do this on many occasions.


obviously all of this can only be done on a limited basis, and will effect the next month’s production negatively , but it is often done to meet short term targets . Given it’s the end of the quarter and the end of the calendar year, plus the takeover and criticism by Zhaojin of not meeting targets, may well be an incentive to do this.
Easy enough to calculate , once we see Decembers ore grade, tonnes milled and recovery.
Will Zhaojin again extend the offer mid-January ? Can they do this ad-nauseum or do they have to increase the offer or withdraw after a certain time? Anybody in HC know ?
would an offer in mid-January of say 80 cents , be enough to win the bid, given Abujar is still in ramp up , and it’s best months are still ahead , not yet realised.
I would think that maximising December gold production would be a hot topic on site about now.
