I think your assessment is fair. This situation we holders now find ourselves in (me) was unexpected.
Perhaps the major backers who continually fed Michael Mark more and more coin drew the line in the Sand when he quit. Maybe it's been a option sitting there for sometime.
Maybe this will be an opportunity for all holders to be part of an expanding profitable much larger company
Far more smarter people than I have sunk mega amounts of cash into this so I don't feel so bad.
This game brings lots of lessons.
