I don't think its surprising at all.
The gold sector is finally gathering steam and ABU has some amazing acreage, a decent amount of cash and right now, is very weak with a board collapsing and only Brett at the top. The company is probably at its weakest so... best time to strike I would think.
The next question is if this is an actual T/O.... who else is going to make a bid.
