Talgajust demonstrated that they could extract 25,000 tons with a couple ofexcavators and dump trucks in less than 5 months or so. The resource grade andshallow depth means that LKAB's expertise and strongest attributes were notrequired at this time. Why would Talga give away a large portion of the projectwhen they could just hire a company like Orefields to do the work?


Mythoughts at that time went back to Norway where I visited in 1970 and they werethe basket case of Scandinavia. They later took a greater equity stake in thedevelopment of their off shore oil/gas finds and today they are the economicpinup child of Scandinavia.

Iwas nervous that LKAB was the Trojan Horse to do a "Norway" on Sweden’sgraphite. There is still danger (with more permit applications to come), but Isee this as another reason for MT's fairly low key approach which avoids the"media bragging" and “tricked up” ASX announcements which is themodus operandi of many of his peers.
