The Production of graphene currently takes one of two different types of approachs: either top-down or bottom-up. Top-down approaches involve breaking apart the stacked layers of graphite to yield single graphene sheet, whereas bottom-up approaches involve synthesising graphene from alternative carbon-containing sources, typically hydrocarbons, both of them cost very dear!
