Hi Towie You may remember when South Australia had large power failure and cost the state a small fortune. The problem arose from not having parallel feeds. These mines in remote locations can be effected by this very same concern. If you don't have a parallel feed on transmission it effects your ability to operate with certainty.
To add the further you are along a single feed any thing that happens upstream effects down stream. This is why parallel feeds are important also to carry out routine maintenance.
On a smaller scale any one who has lived in bush town along a SWIR line will agree. Power could be off for hours but while the TV and bar fridge did not work a good yabby dam all ways come in handy.
