agreed but graphite will likely (not guaranteed ie HZR etc synth.) be key to graphene - graphene is a single atom thick so unless we discover or change physics we are not getting better tech than 1 atom thick layers in the span of my life or my future kids. i foresee a type of electrolysis where we slot in chunks of graphite and coat copper or some metal with graphene on a commercial scale lookup metalysis (part owned by bhp - likely to see a new colorbond using graphene soon). guess we wait and see what happens - certainly is an interesting spec stock.
