Tarcoola will keep the mine running for another two years.
The bad news is that the grade is quite unspectacular at 3g/t.
The very bad news is the gold is in narrow veins and patches associated with structure.
Quote from report (my highlights):
The dilational nature of the shear has enabled Lady Jane Diorite (LJD) dykes to intrude on shear contacts and parallel to localised shear fabrics. Mineralisation is narrow and tightly constrained within the PSZ , which is consistent with a dominantly tensile or extensional-shear vein-controlled host structure.
Gold mineralisation commonly extends along dilational structures that propagate from the diorites, particularly primary deformation event bedding parallel thrust faults.
The other good news is that sulphide is low, simplifying processing and remediation.
Open pit mining can allow more cherry picking of ore; but the sad fact is in narrow veins, a ship load of waste rock is mined with the ore.
Pretty crappy when the best start grade is 3g/t.

Thanks Furpo. Guess it buys them a bit more time to find better grades.
