We agree! Directors will be hammered, but not because of a problem with our corporate legislation inhibiting long term thinking by Australian directors.
After all how long did it take Gordon & co to get from planning to explore, to selling IPO to selling product?
If domestic legislation is at fault, it is by protecting fund managers, including super fund managers, with conflicting interests. They are rewarded by trading performance, not long term thinking that led Australian directors to invest off-shore in more investor-friendly jurisdictions!
However Gordon & co have done themselves and long term DML investors no favours by turning CFC hostile! They could still open negotiations but will they, and would negotiations turn CFC friendly to our "cowboys"?
