Tas. mining minister got questioned in parliament today by greens about would he allow Petratherm to do fracking in Tasmania. Don't expect any evidence based debate in Tasmania. When the minister used the tern hydraulic stimulation he was positively howled down by the green members. No understanding of the difference between CSG and Shale etc... Seems as if the debate about fracking in Tasmania has been won by the negative already. It is the next big green scare and will no doubt get a good kicking around leading up to the State election in March.
Maybe the Tasmanian project will turn into just another expensive frustration for PTR. Too much political risk in this state to be a developer.
Also heard today the Vic. mining minister do a shocking job of a discussion about their moritorium on fraccing. He showed very little understanding of the technicalities and was just waiting to see which way the wind was blowing. The ABC interviewer could not hide her bias either. But no surprise there.
