I had a similarly frustrating experience as I mentioned while I was overseas at the start of the year. I actually didn't get my minutes back till 3 weeks later and they are now sitting in my account untouched as I have no use for them now. In regards to waiting till all the bugs are ironed out before releasing, there's no such thing. I bet it was working perfectly for them before they released it. The bugs only appear in real time scenarios, under real usage. I do agree though that the first priority should be sorting them out. You only get one chance to make a first impression.
