It keeps the authors, esp. the resource geologist honest. Badly needed in the ASX regs too.
Resource geologists frequently inflate the resource numbers bigtime with a few simple tweaks (I could easily name some companies), esp. when the work is done in-house without an external audit. Publishing the report lays it all out for all to see.
Inflating the resource numbers comes undone in dramatic fashion when they go to dig up the deposit and 20% of the metal is not there.
