Texts and emails, videos, CCTV cameras, memo's and reports they are all editable and you can see it. It can be presented once the author is satisfied with the content. Conversations are raw data presented a'priori to some sort of control from the author. There is value in written works or reports - copyright. I agree it is good when you have data but you have to be able to own it, and can use it, process it, graphs and charts, but that is data separate to phone conversation material which is just sprayed out there. Often you talk to work on ideas, trial new ones, see what works. It is the written material, or video'd, recorded, presented that you are able to claim ownership in some way.
