Tyro faces legal proceedings as outage problems grow

Law firm Bannister Law on Wednesday said it is investigating potential claims from businesses that have been unable to accept Eftpos payments in their businesses for ten days after Tyro terminals went down and is also considering a potential class action by shareholders against the listed company.

Tyro is the largest provider of Eftpos terminals outside the big four banks providing services to 32,000 businesses around Australia. In an update to the Australian Securities Exchange on Wednesday it reported the outages had impacted 30 per cent of its customers.

When Tyro first reported the outages to the ASX on Thursday last week it claimed the "terminal connectivity" issues affected less than 5 per cent of customers.
