yes, at this SP the heavy short positions opened on the run down to the report release would be out of the money and needing to be closed. I wouldn't be surprised if they publish another report or try to drum up the class action angle which is the only material they have left... seeing the shorting data for the last week will be amazing, but usually they leave the positions open hoping that the bounce from the report is just temporary (and it sometimes is). In this case, if they didn't close, and other reputable shorters didn't jump in like they hoped, then they are bag holding like a whipped husband at boxing day sales.
Maybe they were smart enough to close early or hedge, but it doesn't seem like it.
