I've heard from it may have been a hack that was able to install software (worm) on some devices that sent card data to a third party. Tyro took action by closing the hackers access however impacted machines cannot be reconnected to network because it will infect the rest of the machines.....this is the reason they are collecting impacted machines and not sending out a software update via the network.
From what I was told the only fix is replacement of machines as the worm has embedded itself so deep in the terminals it can't be erased without wiping the entire terminal clean.
