What is the trend now? I don't see the current trend favours gold price. Gold is here as a wealth preservation tool, not to go exponentially with the inflation rate. Even if the inflation runs hot, the economic is still not proven to be stagnant and there are still many better investment opportunities out there, so who wants to put all the money into gold? It's pretty pointless to check the gold price currently - unless a stagflation is seen, any spike in the gold price means absolutely nothing. In the worst case scenario, FED could still raise the rate to curb inflation - just like what Volcker did in 1979, causing a tumble in gold price - eventually it's just the history repeats itself.
