Gold Fields have ended up with a US$300m break fee following the termination of its deal to acquire Canadian miner Yamana Gold. The deal that had been negotiated with Yamana highlights the fact that Gold Fields are committed to the investment opportunity in South America. Lets hope they put the US$300m to good use with Tesoro as the chief beneficiary.
