I recently just had a covid-19 PCR test (negative result by the way), what I found interesting what the following statement on the pathology report:
"The test used cannot be fully validated to the current NPAAC
Requirements because of the limited time since the emergence of
COVID-19 and the results should be interpreted accordingly. For
further information please contact the laboratory.
This assay is not currently NATA accredited"
Doesn't sound like "gold standard" practices to me, but probably just my limited understanding how pathology labs operate.
