No IMO its still fine - TG6 hit mineralisation and that is the aim. Now its an extension game but seeing if the anomaly can help with targeting that extension quickly.

The most likely reason LTR didn't hit a significant intercept is many millions of years ago where LTR were drilling a mineralised pegmatite existed. Weathering then leached the lithium out of the top of those pegmatites causing high lithium in soils. There may still be lithium at depth somewhere in that area, just not quite where Liontown put down 8 drill holes. The anomaly is a pathfinder that mineralisation below the weathered layer may exist somewhere. The exact spot of the highest anomaly may not be the best one to drill, but somewhere around it is a good spot. When presented with actual robust KV intercepts or chasing what might exist at lake Percy, LTR decided to focus on KV which was ultimately a company maker for them.

You might note in the instance below TG6 are starting their drilling just outside the anomaly. If there is a sloping to the west pegmatite, that's where the pegmatite would be getting a bit deeper and below the weathering layer. As you get an idea of the geology, you target the presumed source pegmatite not the actual peak of the anomaly.


If there wasn't a stacked system and TG6 had started even 150m further to the east nearer where all the nickel drilling was undertaken, TG6 could also have had a bunch of NSI's in their maiden drilling. By the design of the initial holes they would have gained an idea about the geology structure and phase 2 would have been down-dip chasing fresher material.
