Counter-intuitive exactly. And yet no reasons have been given as to why GPs can't administer these treatments at the appropriate time in the illness. If had have turned up at emergency I expect I would have merely been sent home or given panadol. And yet potentially I was in a very dangerous situation that may have become much worse with little or no warning, due to my multiple comorbidities. This certainly happened to my partner, who was eventually put onto dexamethasone during her hospital stay. And very successfully too.
