Unless any arbitration award were to impose penalties, Thailand loses nothing from having closed KCN's mine. The gold has stayed in the ground and is now more valuable. The likely negotiated outcome will be no more than what KCN would have earnt had it been allowed to continue its operations and the country will gain from the extra perceived royalty and tax payments.
