I share some of your reservations regarding Beazley's appointment regarding his lack of expertise within the healthcare/science sectors.
But there can be no question about his contacts and ability to open doors in the US. As a former Opposition leader, Deputy PM and Ambassador to the US, he will have a level of access that most Australian board members could only dream of.
If he's motivated he could prove very valuable.
