LCT sources for Lithium include spodumene, lepidolite, petalite etc. If you want your Lithium to be used in car batteries then you do not want your ASX company to be producing Lithium that is only able to be used in the production of ceramics.
My research tells me that only spodumene is presently used to economically produce lithium chemicals which is does via a conventional calcine, acid roast, leach, purification, crystallisation process (Welham, 2019). The few plants processing micas such as lepidolite are at the high end of the cost curve.
